Zeta’s for the Win!

This past semester, all of our sports competed in the spring. With school being back in full swing, we are excited to highlight our eighteen student athletes here in the Delta Psi chapter! From the recently named SoCon Champions of track and field, to the sixth-straight conference title for soccer, and finally to the Kiawah Island Classic championship round for golf, our girls are represented all throughout the athletic community. And with football starting back up, our dance and cheer team ladies have had a huge role in getting the crowds fired up and keeping the energy high in the stadium!  To put it short, our members do it all, and we are excited to give them the recognition they deserve.

Track: (L to R – top) Grace Gamboa, Hannah Lueders, (bottom) Riley Alexander, and Kaelyn McCann

Starting off with track, our incredibly talented women’s track and field ladies achieved their sixth straight indoor SoCon championship on April 28th, and the outdoor SoCon championship on May 2nd, making their constant dedication and commitment worth it. We are in awe of the strength and persistence it took to reach their goal, and we cannot believe that they managed to train all while serving our chapter, not to mention Riley Alexander serves as our housing manager. They can seriously do it all.

Track: (L to R – top) Katie Hoaglund, Caroline Donovan, (bottom) Alex Bicknell, Ella Simpson

These four incredible ladies ended their spring season with a record of 8-2-3.  They won the regular season conference championship, and headed to the conference tournament. Advancing to the conference tournament championship did not have the ending they were hoping for. They have such a fun loving spirit both on and off the field, and we love the competitive edge they bring to the table.

Golf: Bailey Dunstan

Our sweet and gifted Bailey Dunstan has already accomplished so much in her first year on Samford’s Women’s Golf team! Bailey and her team recently placed in the Kiawah Island Classic. Bailey finished the season by placing 3rd in a spring tournament and top 10 in the conference. She also made the SoCon all freshmen team–how impressive is that?!

Tennis: Lauren Waddles

Lauren Waddles is a freshman here at Samford University coming to us from Lexington, Kentucky. She loves the opportunities Samford has provided her this season, with tennis and Greek life, and being a new member of Zeta Tau Alpha is something that she prioritizes outside of her sport. Lauren and her team finished with a winning record in the SoCon tournament.

Softball: Grayson King

Grayson is a sophomore here from Magnolia, Texas and plays outfield for the bulldogs. She played in 18 games in her sophomore season with 6 runs scored. Grayson also is serving on our recruitment committee! We are lucky to have her talent and loyalty.

Dance: (from L to R) Hailey Mahan, Elise Pettit

Our dancers put as many hours into practice as they do in their studies. The dance team makes appearances at basketball and football games. This season has been unlike any other with the two seasons occurring at the same time, and made the balancing act look easy. Hailey and Elise bring the pep and the talent to our chapter!

Cheer: (from L to R) Anna Haisten Williams, Jourdan Elliott, Baylie McClafferty, (bottom) Jackie Rodriguez,

& Olivia Lamb

As cheerleaders, these members don’t only bring spirit to the school, but also to our chapter! It always brings a smile to our faces to see them on the sidelines at football and basketball games. Anna Haisten and Olivia are also on the Historian committee and serve as bloggers.

We realize the sacrifice of being an athlete at Samford while juggling studies, extracurriculars, and being active members in ZTA. Our members put in so much hard work and perseverance into their sports all while holding their crown high. Their involvement in the different areas of the Samford community truly adds to and makes our chapter very well rounded. We love being able to cheer on all of our sisters in each season and are so proud of the example they set for our school.
